Açai bowl recipe
We’ve just come back from holiday where açai bowls featured on nearly every menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I kindly obliged by trying them at all mealtimes ;) They are quite literally sunshine in a bowl. I’ve used powder rather than frozen açai, no matter the form, the ‘beauty berry’ is packed with manganese to support energy and bones, and help protect against oxidative stress.
Recipe
Ingredients
Bowl:
1 handful frozen berries
1/2 banana
1 tbsp shelled hemp seeds
1 tbsp almond butter (use tahini for a nut-free alternative)
1 tbsp açai powder (I like Naturya)
splash of almond milk - to your desired consistency
Toppings:
1/2 banana sliced
Berries, nuts, seeds of your choice
Method
Place all the ‘bowl’ ingredients in a powerful blender and blitz until a smooth consistency has been achieved.
Pour the blended ingredients into a bowl and arrange the toppings of your choice in lines or layers.
Tip - if you have any mixture left over, keep it in the freezer for another time. To defrost, store in the fridge overnight.
